ABOUT THIS BLOG…

…welcome to the world of the memes in my head…

Why this blog?

“…people…in enterprise, in government…are by and large well intentioned. They’d like to get things done. To be of service to others. But they’re thwarted…at every step of the way…by absurd organizational barriers…and by the egos of petty tyrants (be they corporate middle managers, or army colonels, or school superintendents)…” – Tom Peters, Re-Imagine!, 2003

…drawing from personal experience – having spent over seven years of my professional life in a regressive and toxic work environment, where the inflated egos of delusional petty tyrants defined every aspect of the organization’s structure, vision, and operation – I seek to share with the reader a very important lesson that this experience has taught me: a lesson in whom and what I shall never choose to be, choose to associate with, or choose to stand for – ever again in this life…

…the dictatorial mindset, the fear-mongering, the suppression of truth, the culture of absolute subservience to those in control, the hidden agenda, the blatant hypocrisy, the dirty politics, the greed for absolute control and authority, the regressive attitudes, and most importantly the absolute disregard for those of ‘lesser’ fortunes are attributes and attitudes central to pretty much all facets of the societies that we have chosen to build for ourselves…

…it is these attitudes that I choose to challenge…and while I seek to do this in as polite a manner as possible, there may be instances where I may vent, rant, use foul language, and express frustration with the status-quo – for which I will not apologize; but out of courtesy to the reader will acknowledge the possible lapses in diplomacy in advance…there are some things that just tick me off – and I choose not to sugar-coat my words, hence what I write may be offensive to some…deal with it or choose not to follow my blog :)

…while the context and subject of my observations, opinions, and rants may, at times, be centered around the ‘professional organization’ or be speaking directly to a specific organized (or otherwise) endeavor or pursuit; the message contained within will attempt to remain holistic (universal, total) and will attempt to speak to all facets of existence…

“…the organizations we created have become tyrants. They have taken control, holding us fettered, creating barriers that hinder rather than help our businesses. The lines that we drew on our neat organizational diagrams have turned into walls that no one can scale or penetrate or even peer over…” – Frank Lekanne Deprez & Rene Johannes Tissen, Zero Space: Moving Beyond Organizational Limits, 2002

…while I have no fantastic notions, objectives, or aspirations of ‘changing’ anything – be it the proverbial ‘system’, or human nature – and while I don’t believe that human beings will wake up one fine day having turned benign, with evil having magically evaporated, and with greed having been regulated out of existence; I do hope that taking ownership for my own existence and sharing my experiences will inspire others to take control of their own lives and to unleash their instinctive curiosity and creativity that has been so effectively destroyed by schools and corporations alike…

…there is meaning and purpose to this existence…and that meaning and purpose far transcends what we have come to accept as ‘life’, the societal structures and ‘norms’ we’ve created for ourselves, and the means by which we have chosen to sustain our livelihood (a.k.a. ‘work’)…whether it was the quasi-slavery of the middle ages, the indentured servitude of the first century and a half of the industrial revolution, or the cubicle slavery of the last 75-odd years…

…welcome to where the paradigm shifts…here!…the beginning of a renewed responsibility to ourselves as individuals, to our societies, to our planet, and to the universe at large…an extraordinary opportunity to take control of our own existence…
